Del Papa Distributing Company Restores a Piece of its History
Original Model A delivery truck representing company in 100th anniversary celebrations
GALVESTON, TX, July 08, 2010 /Food and Beverage PR News/ -- As Del Papa Distributing Company continues a year-long anniversary celebration of its 100th year of business in 2010, the company is bringing a nostalgic piece of its history to the festivities. A 1930 Model A Ford delivery truck, purchased by the company in the 1980s, was repaired and restored to working condition.
The truck had been in storage for some 15 years without a useful purpose. The company has given it new life and it now represents Del Papa Distributing in several parades and other events in the company's market areas throughout the year. It comes complete with decals and old-style delivery crates stacked in the back, which at one time held the beer being delivered to the company's many customers.
"This is something very similar to what we would have used in the early days as delivery workers made their rounds," said Larry Del Papa, President and CEO. "We figured our 100th Anniversary commemoration would be the perfect time to unveil it. I'm sure people will get a kick out of seeing such a piece of history restored to like-new condition."
Del Papa Distributing Company was founded in 1910 in Galveston, TX by Omero Del Papa Sr. As the company celebrates this extraordinary milestone, plans for the year-long celebration will chronicle its history and weave it with the stories of its founding family and employees, the communities it serves and its first major supplier, Anheuser-Busch.
Today, Del Papa Distributing Company serves 17 Texas counties and three major Texas markets: Galveston, Beaumont and Victoria.
