Local Dairy Crest milkman raises over GBP500 for daughter's cystic fibrosis charity
Local milkman Andy Exton raised GBP500 for cystic fibrosis by completing the Coventry Half Marathon last month
LONDON, ENGLAND, July 11, 2010 /Food and Beverage PR News/ -- A local milkman has raised over GBP500 for a charity close to his heart. Andy Exton who works from the Dairy Crest Nuneaton depot on Hammond Close has come close to reaching his fundraising target for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, after completing the Coventry Half Marathon last month.
Andy completed the 13 mile run in one hour and 57 minutes on 23rd May and donations are still flooding in for his great achievement and worthwhile cause. This was the second marathon for the 36 year-old milkman and thanks to customers and residents in the local area he has managed to raise hundreds for his chosen charity, an important cause to him as his 15 year-old daughter suffers from the illness.
Thanks to his daily round where he walks 15 miles, Andy said he found the first ten miles fairly easy but the cramp made the final three a lot harder. He said "I really wanted to get involved with fundraising for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and thought the half marathon was a great way of raising awareness of the illness. I have been talking about doing the half marathon for months and I am grateful to everyone who has donated, especially my customers. They're more used to me delivering their order of milk, eggs and even pet food but they have all been digging into their pockets for donations."
